Editorial diagram: Tutoring franchises: instructor role, enrolment and centre capacity
Editorial diagram. A topic-specific research checklist, not a verified brand result or an earnings forecast.

Tutoring franchises differ in teaching methods, owner involvement and delivery format. Understand who instructs students, where learning takes place and what work occurs outside scheduled sessions before comparing entry packages.

Define the educational and owner role

Ask which qualifications, selection steps and training apply to the actual offer. Determine whether the owner is expected to teach, supervise instructors or run administration. Kumon’s official instructor route is one example to investigate; it does not establish requirements for every education franchise.

Map the full service workload

Include student assessment, preparation, feedback, parent communication and recordkeeping alongside lesson time. Check applicable safeguarding, privacy and premises requirements with appropriate local advice. A timetable of customer sessions alone can understate the work needed to deliver the service.

Model enrolment and available places

Separate enquiries, assessed students, active enrolments and collected fees. Consider school calendars and the times families can attend. Do not convert the theoretical number of seats into guaranteed demand or claim learning outcomes without suitable evidence.

A worked research example

Example capacity question: a centre has room for twelve learners, but only one instructor is available for the proposed session format. The safe and suitable operating capacity must be established for that service; multiplying seats by fees does not resolve it.

Evidence to gather

  • Confirm the owner’s teaching and supervision role
  • Map work outside customer sessions
  • Check relevant local safeguarding and premises duties

Frequently asked questions

Must every tutoring franchise owner teach?

Requirements vary. Check the current offer and agreement.

Does a full room timetable prove demand?

No. It shows potential capacity, which must be tested against local enrolment evidence.

Can I assume a brand guarantees student outcomes?

Only use substantiated, appropriately qualified claims; do not infer a guarantee from brand recognition.
